Joseph “Joe” Zammit, Sr.

Funeral services for Joseph Emile Zammit, Sr., 94, will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Terence Catholic Mission, 44847 Highway 191, Florien, Louisiana. A Rosary will begin at 10:45 a.m. A burial will follow at Zammit Family Cemetery, 63 Emerald Dr., Many, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Father Timothy Hurd.

Joe was born on November 29, 1931 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Walter Robert Zammit and Edna Katherine Zammit and passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026 in Many, Louisiana.

Joe was a long-time resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana before retiring to Toledo Bend in 1998. He married his wife, Mary Alice, on December 29, 1951 and worked for Gulf States Utilities for 42 years, working his way up to Plant Superintendent. He was a parishioner of St. Terence Catholic Mission in Florien, Louisiana.

Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. Family was everything to Joe and he most enjoyed spending time with them. He leaves a legacy of love and will be deeply missed and always cherished.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Edna Zammit; his wife of 58 years, Mary Alice Hudson Zammit; an infant son, Mark Keith; 3 brothers; 3 sisters; grandchildren, Ty Joseph Zammit and Kimberly Zammit Gautreau.

He is survived by his children, Joey Zammit of Toledo Bend, Louisiana, Tim Zammit and wife, Pam of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Margaret Zammit and fiancé, Don Gauthreaux of Toledo Bend, Louisiana; 7 grandchildren, JoAllison Rodriguez, Kori Schexnyder, Nicole Zammit, Megan Guillory, Keely Davidson, and Rayne Skelton; as well as 18 great-grandchildren.

Honoring Joe as pallbearers will be Jo Henry Rodriguez, John Parker, John Schexnyder, David Gautreau, Chris Davidson, and Scott Guillory.

Charles Douglas Anthony

Charles Douglas Anthony passed from this life on August 19, 2026, surrounded by his wife and family after a battle with gastrointestinal cancer. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and devoted wife of 64 years, Clarene, and his beautiful daughter Amy Anthony Martin and husband Todd; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Clare Martin, Mary Hope Martin, and William Anthony Martin, sister-in-law Bonny Anthony (Jimmy), and countless nephews and nieces he loved deeply.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Drayton Hoy Anthony and Zelma Blackwell Anthony; his brothers Robert Anthony, Jimmy Anthony, Wilton Anthony, Furman Anthony, Howard Anthony, Elmore (Buddy) Anthony, MG Anthony, Mack Anthony, and Gordon Anthony; and his sisters, Rose Anthony, Juanita DeLatin Blackwell, and Bettye DeLatin Hopkins Lafitte.

Charles was born on April 18, 1939, in Florien, Louisiana. Known by his nickname of “Sister,” he was an avid basketball player. Wearing jersey number “8”, he was the star center for the Florien Blackcats during his high school career from 1954-1958. Possessing a wicked hook shot, Charles helped lead his high school team over the Northwestern State University freshman team in his senior year.

Charles went on to a successful career in automotive sales. He owned and operated dealerships in several towns and cities including Natchitoches, Oil City, Minden, Shreveport, LA, and Atlanta, Texas.

His world, later in life, was his grandchildren. Known as “Poppy,” he never missed a game, performance, or excuse to spend time with them. He always wanted to be a part of whatever they were up to.

Charles loved his time in the Church and was a long-time member of the Ready Sunday School class. One could always count on hearing his deep bass voice during his favorite hymns including “How Great Thou Art.” He was a devoted member of his Church and a loyal friend.

The family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Prakash Peddi, Rene Palmer, PA-C, and the staff of Willis Knighton Cancer Center for their incredible compassion, diligence, and generosity.

Memorial services will be held at the Broadmoor Baptist Church Chapel, 4110 Youree Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana, on Saturday, August 22nd, from 10-11:30am. Officiating the service will be Dr. Larry Williams and Dr. John Sullivan. Memorial services will be held at Antioch Baptist Church, 560 Dess Road, Florien, Louisiana, on Saturday, August 22nd, from 2:30-4:00pm.

Lynna Catherine Hubley

Lynna Catherine Hubley passed away on August 18, 2026 in Many, Louisiana at the age of 89. She was born on January 24, 1937 to Cleve and Winnie (Davis) Hubley and was the youngest of 13 children. Throughout her life, Lynna loved singing and enjoyed performing in numerous theater productions. She also had a huge place in her heart for animals, especially her cats.

Lynna attended St. John’s Catholic School in her early years and then attended and graduated from Many High School in 1955. She attended Northwestern State College (now Northwestern State University) in Natchitoches, LA and received her degree in Music Education. She taught music in Houma and Lake Charles schools in Louisiana for several years before moving to California to pursue a career in theater. While in California, Lynna performed in various musical productions as well as one-act plays and solo performances. During her career, some of her favorite and most rewarding performances were those with Summer Stock in Houston and in San Marcos, Texas with well-known movie stars from that era.

Lynna also spent many years working in the School for the Blind in California as a music teacher and a caretaker. She formed many dear and loving relationships with the children that she taught and cared for and she was eventually promoted to the position of Director at the School for the Blind.

After retirement, Lynna moved back home to Many and resided there until her passing.

Known for her beautiful artistic abilities, Lynna always made Christmas a very special time for her family because of her unique and creative ways of decorating and wrapping special gifts for everyone.

Lynna is survived by her only living sister, Beverly Jo (Hubley) Miller of Linden, TX and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleve and Winnie Hubley; sisters Freda Guidry, Hazel Yarbrough, Helen Dowden, Winfred Duke and Anna Frances Grembowiec; and brothers Cleveland Julian (C. J.) Hubley, Charles Hubley, Grover Cleveland Hubley, Walter Earl Hubley, Jack Hubley and Gene Hubley.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026 from 11 a.m.-12 noon at Warren Meadows Funeral Home (355 S. Capital Street, Many, LA 71449). Following the visitation, a Rosary will begin at 12:30 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (1130 E. San Antonio Avenue, Many, LA 71449) followed by a Funeral Mass at 1 p.m. and then burial at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.

Pall bearers and honorary pall bearers will be her loving nephews Jimmy Dowden, Grover Hubley, Jim Hubley, Ronnie Duke, Walker Duke, Alan Grembowiec, David Hubley and Carl Miller.

The family expresses its thanks to Many Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center and Hospice of Many for the care they provided and a very special sincere and heartfelt thanks to her cousin, Mary Beth (“Mimi”) Tarver, for the unwavering and enormous love and support she provided to Lynna for many years.
